We went to the first ever Steamcon last weekend and had an amazing time.
We first heard about the con in the spring and booked rooms etc immediately; steampunk costume plans were drafted and redone about a million times until we finally settled on some designs for our characters.
We were in a big group with

and

(with

as our designated photographer.) We made an entire story around our characters and I'm sure once the others start uploading their photos - you'll be able to piece it together.
We only went for two days - Saturday and Sunday; upon arriving we were pleasantly surprised by the number of amazing costumes and gadgets around... and above all - the atmosphere. The Seatac Marriott was a gorgeous hotel filled with gorgeous well-behaved people on a gorgeous day and so on.
Our costumes were well-received [despite our worries] and we had a lot of pictures taken~

We hit up Gasukan for a little while on Saturday to say hello to people and take pictures at the park; after that we kind of got back and were lazy for the rest of the evening.
The next day we had a photoshoot with everyone at the hotel atrium/pool area.. and.. nothing else really happened after that.

Things Learned:
- Steamcon is amazing and everyone should go next year... after we register so we don't end up without badges, of course.
- Steampunk costumes are really cool.
- There are no other crossplayers at Steamcon.
- Goggles are great for pretending to be awake at panels.
- Don't sew buttons on in the car; if you do - keep them somewhere safe.
- Vests are awesome.
- Everything is better in red. Except finding your red car.
The Button:
I was sewing one of my shirt buttons on in the car...... and it fell. It fell right under the seat where I couldn't reach it. So I was all "OH NO." and just had to get it out.
I could feel it with my fingers but couldn't pull it out... so I tried going from behind and flung myself over the back seat [on the highway, mind you] and got stuck like that with my butt in the air.
Valdrein had to pull me out by my leg.
Then I decided that folding the seat might work better. So I did. While we were moving. And I still couldn't get it out.
So I got stuck in this odd position of me hugging the folded seat.. to the point where AG asked if I fell asleep. I did not.
This all took about an hour, by the way, with everyone telling me that I could get it when we stopped... So eventually I sat down and waited for someone to hate to pee.
BUT NO ONE HAD TO PEE. THE ENTIRE WAY. And when I had to pee... THEY WOULDN'T PULL OVER.
And... as soon as we got there, I got it out within a minute.......... yeah.
And I have a huge bruise on my left wrist from trying to fish the button out from under the folded seat.
The End.
